The Five Major Arpeggio Patterns

In the previous lesson we learned the five patterns of the major/minor scale, and saw how they could be formed into one, fretboard encompassing scale pattern. This lesson will demonstrate the same concept with the major triad arpeggio.

 

Five patterns of this arpeggio will be diagramed, and as with the scale, each fits into the next, to form a macro-pattern which repeats itself across the fretboard, and is moveable to play as any major triad arpeggio.

 

In the following diagrams, the frets of the pattern labeled "R" are the notes which are the root of the Major triad. Those labeled "M3" are the major thirds, and those labeled "P5" are the perfect fifths.

 

This lesson should be otherwise self-explanatory, thought time and study will be needed to fully internalize the material.
